Become A Surrogate

What To Expect As A Surrogate?

As a surrogate, you will have the unique opportunity to make a real and positive impact on people’s lives. In many cases, you will help others fulfill their dream of parenthood and help their families grow. However, this journey is not easy!

We will match you with an experienced surrogacy coordinator who will guide you through every step of your surrogacy journey with care, kindness, and respect.

In addition, we also prepared the following “step-by-step” guide about what to expect from the moment you consider becoming a surrogate with Surrogacy Company and all the way through delivery day and recovery.

Become a Surrogate Mother in 9 Simple Steps

Initial Application & Contact

Step 1

Initial Application & Contact

After meeting our requirements and completing the surrogate application on our website, a surrogate coordinator will contact you to review your details, explain the process, and answer any questions you may have.

We will also ask you to complete and sign forms that will allow us to run a background check and request your medical records.

Surrogate Profile Questionnaire

Step 2

Surrogate Profile Questionnaire

You will fill out a questionnaire to tell us more about yourself and your family. This will really help us to get to know you better! We will also place most of this information on your confidential surrogate profile which will be shared with the Intended Parent(s).

Medical Records Review

Step 3

Medical Records Review

We will request medical records from the doctor who supported you in your most recent pregnancy. One of our Fertility Specialists will review your medical and obstetric records to ensure that you are medically fit and ready to go through the surrogacy process.

IVF Clinic Medical Screening

Step 4

IVF Clinic Medical Screening

You will come in for a medical assessment at our IVF clinic where you will (a) undergo a physical exam, (b) have your blood drawn for infectious diseases and prenatal tests, (c) submit a urine sample for a drug test, and (d) do an ultrasound of your uterus and ovaries.

Your partner will also undergo tests for infectious diseases and drug use.

Psychological Screening

Step 5

Psychological Screening

You will speak with a licensed psychologist to ensure that you are mentally and emotionally prepared to become a surrogate mother.

Matching Process & Contract

Step 6

Matching Process & Contract

Once all screening results are medically approved,  the matching process will begin. You will be able to review the profile of the Intended Parent(s) before engaging in a match meeting.

Once a surrogacy match is confirmed, you will enter into a legal contract with the Intended Parent(s) through the representation of an attorney.

Start In Vitro Fertilization

Step 7

Start IVF Cycle

To prepare for an embryo transfer, you will begin taking fertility medications (pills and/or injections) to ensure that your uterine lining is thickening and that your menstrual cycle is well-regulated.

You will also start attending monitoring appointments, which will include several doctor physical exams, blood work, and ultrasounds.

Embryo Transfer Procedure

Step 8

Embryo Transfer Procedure

An embryo is transferred to the surrogate’s uterus in a procedure that is similar to a Pap Smear. After successful implantation, the surrogate mother will carry the pregnancy to full term and will give birth to a baby.

Pregnancy And Delivery

Step 9

Pregnancy and Delivery

About 4 weeks after the embryo transfer, you will have your first ultrasound. Roughly 8-10 weeks after the embryo transfer, you will be discharged to the care of your OB/GYN for the remainder of your pregnancy. Delivery of the baby typically happens 38 weeks after the embryo transfer.
